I regularly explore for creative or striking gifts for Christmas. However, if anyone out there believes that buying personalized presents is like buying average presents, do think once again. Think hard and think long.

I recently purchased one of these, I won’t mention the site because I’m an embroidery digitizer. I make products that the personalized gift vendors sell and incredibly, ! But these guys, that I found on some website, were quick to take my money and satisfaction was not in their business policies. I found out later that many people complained to the FTC about this company, but since I didn’t take the time to ask around in advance, I didn’t find out until it was too late.

It was a hard lesson to learn…my advice is to take advice on whom to do business from your friends. It’s only your friends who have no vested interest in the decisions you make. Anyways, I digress… The gift I purchased was personalized just for me and not only do you need to purchase this stuff wayyy in advance, some of these people (and I use that temr loosely) they really make you follow their procedures when there’s a mistake. So, be very cautious about… 1. Provide the accurate spelling right from the start and 2. Order enough in advance so that an error can be corrected. Oh!..one more.. 3. Find out how responsive their customer service is BEFORE you order. Good luck!

An unhappy but smarter customer,
B. Martin
